Osteoporosis & ONERO Exercises

At ScoliosisPTJax, we’re proud to offer Onero, a scientifically backed exercise program designed specifically for individuals with osteopenia or osteoporosis. Developed in 2015 by Dr. Belinda Beck, a world leader in bone health research, Onero is based on groundbreaking studies, including the well-known LIFTMOR trials, which show that the right kind of exercise can significantly improve bone density and strength, and reduce fall risk.

Why Bone Health Matters

Bone health is crucial for everyone, especially those at risk for conditions like osteopenia and osteoporosis. Osteoporosis affects over 10 million Americans and is responsible for more than 2 million fractures every year. Women are disproportionately affected, making up about 80% of all diagnoses, particularly post-menopausal women.

These fractures can lead to a significant loss of independence, mobility, and quality of life. While medications are available and can be helpful, osteoporosis remains a significant health concern. That’s where Onero comes in.

What is Onero™?

Onero™ is an award-winning, evidence-based exercise program designed to improve bone health through high-intensity resistance and impact training..  It’s performed under the supervision of certified Oner practitioners and has consistently delivered solid clinical outcomes since 2013.  The 4 main exercises are done in a safe and supervised manner, and to build bones, these exercises are

1. Brief
2. Heavy
3. Weight-bearing

How is Onero™ Different?

Unlike traditional osteoporosis programs that avoid impact and heavy loading, Oner is based on decades of clinical research showing that the only way to improve bone mass meaningfully is through structured, progressive loading. Each exercise is tailored to your specific health profile and performed under your clinician’s careful guidance to maximize results and safety.

  • Improve bone mineral density
  • Strengthen muscles
  • Improve posture, balance, and coordination
  • Reduce the risk of falls and fractures

Unlike general fitness classes, Onero is customized, supervised, and research-driven, delivering measurable results in a safe, supportive environment.

Why Choose Us?

The clinicians at ScoliosisPTJax are licensed and trained in the Onero program.  We bring a unique and passionate approach to managing osteoporosis. Our goal is to help clients improve their bone density so that they can be stronger and more confident.

A note on insurance

Onero is a medically informed wellness program — not a covered physical therapy benefit. Because it falls outside the scope of insurance reimbursement, it is self-pay only. This keeps the program focused entirely on what works for your bones, without the constraints of what insurance will and won't authorize. We do not accept Medicare. We are happy to provide a receipt for your records.
